About time

When I was a kid, I can clearly remember how term-time seemed to drag on interminably and that our two-month summer holidays seemed to last a lifetime.  These days, time seems to pass me by in an ever-accelerating flash.  It's a pity that, now that I'm an adult and have so much more freedom of choice than one has as a child, I can't slow things down again in order to really savour the good things in life.  I have a theory that I think explains this perceived speeding of time's passage.  Kids live very much in the present, but as adults we're always ridiculously busy and forever looking forward to something and planning ahead in our work or personal schedules.  I wonder if it would slow things down a little if we followed the children's example by focusing more on the here and now?  Maybe the kids know best?  I always thought it wasn't possible for the grown-ups to always be right.....
