Nikos Varytimiadis

My work deals with the differences but also the similarities between mythology and reality. Through my work I try to analyze, to critique and to understand terms such as mythology, archetype and mocumentary. The project on which I now work is called cerna ruka. It is formed by a combination of various media and is informed by the terms such as mythology, archetype and mocumentary. The project deals with the perspective of otherness and the creation of mandatory beliefs. It deals with the subjectivity of daily life, its assumptions, its securities and its normalities. The works that interest me the most, and I believe the research I have been doing is all about a strong and clear action of recovery; the necessity of to bring something to the light that has remained hidden. The conscious dive in the depths of meaning and the ways that symbols and significations if detached form their immediate environment and place in different one can recombine in new ways, finds its way in what I call the idea-triptych of archeology-archetype-origin.
